KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the murder of retired Bay of Plenty teacher John Rowe are hoping security video footage might lead to the identity of his killer.
Mr Rowe, 78, was found in his Opotiki home on Tuesday by a neighbour.
He had been attacked while he lay in his bed and suffered serious head injuries.
Detective Inspector Rob Jones said today that the 30-strong investigation team was looking to obtain footage from all available sources in the town.
Mr Jones said the process was an intensive and lengthy one, with about a dozen premises being identified as having video surveillance capability.
Police were also working through a list of persons of interest.
Three people were interviewed yesterday, of whom two were released without charge.
The third remained in custody overnight, not in relation to the murder, but because he was wanted on arrest over other matters.
