Victims of fatal Mangaweka crash named as child and adult from Auckland

Police have named the child and adult who died in a crash at Mangaweka during the holiday road toll period.

They were 2-year-old Agambir Singh Dhanju and 38-year-old Sumeet Sumeet, both of Auckland.

The pair died in a two-car crash on State Highway 1 on December 29.

Two other people, including a child, were airlifted to Wellington Hospital for treatment, one critically injured and the other in a serious condition.

A third person suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Palmerston North Hospital.

The two deaths are included in the holiday road toll of 13.

“Police extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of those involved. Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”
