The woman who died after the van she was a passenger in and a ute collided head-on near Taihape on Tuesday was Anett Durichen, 31, of Germany.
The van's driver, a German man aged 23, is in Palmerston North Hospital with serious leg injuries.
The other driver had minor injuries.
