A pleasing field of 30 veteran players turned out for their weekly sortie at the Carterton Golf Club last week on a day which was hot and very humid. Winner of the stableford competition was Terry Courtney with 43pts and he was followed by George Rink 41, Ian Brinkworth and Toby Hempleman 40, Anne Barry, Mike Holt, Ash Braggins and Wal McKnight 39, Garth Ramsden 38, Ray Morris and John Barry 37, Yvonne Baylis and Neil Stuart and Max Baylis 36.
Holes in two were recorded by Terry Courtney, James Moss and Corrie Van Zanten.
The weather turned sour on Saturday with just 13 players braving the elements, 11 men and two women. It was the first round of the Summer Cup competition (yeah, right!) in which the best three stableford rounds of five will count in the final analysis.
Richard Chapman led home the men with 38pts and then came Duncan Pincock 36, John Lett, Barry Bentley and Mark Graham 34, Ross Collings 33, Ian Brinkworth 32, Brayden Mazey 30 and Larry Gray, Bill Armstrong and Trevor Clayton 24. Corrie Van Zanten had 31 points in the women's section and Sue Braiden 29.
