KEY POINTS:
Former TV host and radio journalist Peter Verschaffelt no longer has to live under a curfew while he waits for drugs charges to be dealt with.
Verschaffelt, 51, faced charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and attempting to pervert the course of justice when he appeared in North Shore District Court yesterday, for the third time.
He was charged last year but since his first court appearance has been living under a court-imposed curfew, and reporting to police.
His lawyer Allan Roberts argued that Verschaffelt's reporting to police could be reduced to three times a week.
He also queried the curfew, which was removed by the judge, who said there didn't appear to be a need for it.
Verschaffelt, who was working for Housing New Zealand, was alleged to have used its cars to collect the ingredients to make P.
He hosted the 1990 TV show Made in New Zealand and worked as a business radio journalist. He also headed communications for the Auckland City Council.
Verschaffelt will appear in court again on May 16. Another man charged with Verschaffelt, Gregor Wilesmith, 58, is to appear in court today.
