Motorists driving over the Kaimai Ranges in Bay of Plenty are being urged to take extra care this morning, after a large amount of diesel spilled onto the road.
The spill on State Highway 29 begins near Soldiers Rd on the Tauranga side and extends over the ranges and down towards Matamata.
Police said the surface was extremely slippery and several vehicles had already slid off the road as a result.
Motorists were urged to slow down and take extreme care.
