Vector Arena was decked out with festive lights and decorations for Auckland City Mission's annual Christmas dinner. More than 1400 people tucked into a lunchtime feast of turkey, ham, roast vegetables, ice cream, jelly and fruit salad, served up by 450 volunteers.
City Missioner Diane Robertson said guests thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the venue was beautifully arranged.
Entertainment was provided by Annie Crummer and a troupe of clowns, while Mr and Mrs Claus stopped by to hand out presents to children.
The cooking started on Christmas Eve at the Devonport Naval Base, before the food was trucked over to the arena yesterday. The food and presents were donated.
