If you're thinking of heading to the beach, Paihia and Russell are your best bet. The temperature in the towns is tipped to reach 18C on Sunday.
The days either side will also be warm, reaching 17C.
The coldest places will be Cromwell and Clyde in Central Otago, where frosts are tipped to drop the temperature to minus 2C overnight.
Forecaster Mark Pascoe said the temperatures were usual for this time of year.
Travellers in the western and northern parts of the North Island should look out for showers today but in most other places the weather is expected to be fine.
Showers are expected tomorrow in the west of the North and South Islands but it should be fine in the east.
On Sunday, showers are expected in the western areas of both islands and a cold southerly is expected to bring rain to the eastern and southern parts of the South Island. Monday should be drier in most places.
The wettest spot will be the South Island's West Coast, where 20-40mm of rain is expected between Saturday and Monday.
