Rainfall in Wairarapa has varied widely through July, with some areas getting little more than a third of the average - according to Greater Wellington figures.
At Tinui 62.5mm of rain fell for the month through to yesterday, just 37 per cent of the average July figure of 169mm.
Tauherenikau was doused with around half the average July rainfall as of yesterday, 58mm compared to the usual 119mm.
One of the wettest spots in the region, Angle Knob in the Tararuas, was at 61 per cent of its July average with a total of 386.5mm.
Meanwhile Waiorongomai, in South Wairarapa, was much closer to the norm at 156mm, 90 per cent of the usual 174mm of rain for the month.
