A car and two tow trucks were required to remove a van stuck in a garden traffic island in southeast Auckland.
Residents of Manor Park, Pakuranga, were woken to a loud bang about 4am on Sunday after the van's owner fell asleep at the wheel and drove up on to the feature garden.
A neighbour said: "He tried to tow it out himself and couldn't, so he then got a tow truck that also couldn't so they had to get another bigger one."
Many people stopped to take photos.
"It gave us giggles all day, I must say."
