Two teenage boys are being sought after vandals causes several thousand dollars worth of damage at Hastings Girls High School during the weekend.
Police said that the boys, aged about 14, were seen in the school grounds on Saturday afternoon when the staff room and two science laboratories were broken into and vandalised.
The intruders had smashed "anything and everthing" they could lay their hands on, Senior Sergeant Ross Smith of Hastings police said.
But Board of Trustees chairwoman Sandra Grant said that there was not expected to be any disruption as the school was closed for holidays for the next two weeks.
She understood everything could be repaired but it was not clear whether property was taken.
