Vandals set fire to Telecom cabinets

Police are trying to work out who is responsible for setting fire to Telecom roadside cabinets in Wanaka.

Several hundred of the telco's customers are without working land lines as a result of the damage done to equipment.

A Telecom spokeswoman says staff hope to begin repairing the damage this afternoon, as police finish examining each cabinet. Some customers' phones and internet services could be up and running soon, while others may have to wait days.
