Vandals risked killing children or themselves when they tampered with an electricity cabinet outside a Hastings' primary school on Saturday, the electricity provider says.
The vandals removed bolts from the Unison Networks' cabinet outside Camberley School, leaving the box open with wires and fuses exposed.
"We are just very grateful that the children of Camberley School knew not to play with the exposed wires, because the outcome could have been fatal," Unison health and safety manager Wayne Withey said.
There had been similar incidents around Hastings recently, creating a concerning trend for the electricity distributor.
Unison customer relations manager Danny Gough said it was thought they were random acts of vandalism and the cabinets were not being targeted for scrap metal.
