KEY POINTS:
A man who fled his sentencing for killing a New Zealand doctor in a hit-and-run in Vancouver has been caught.
Xiao "Sean" Zhang, 21, of Toronto, killed Tauranga man David Higgins, 51, in June last year as his horrified daughter Sian looked on.
Zhang pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of Dr Higgins and failing to stop at the scene, but failed to appear for his March 5 sentencing in Vancouver Provincial Court.
He was re-arrested after being traced thousands of kilometres to Ontario.
Police are to meet with Crown counsel to determine what additional charges Zhang would face.
