Two people involved in a "vampire" attack spared the victim from giving evidence by pleading guilty at the last minute yesterday.
Xenia Gregoriana Borichevsky, 19, and James Eric Orr, 19 pleaded guilty in the Wellington District Court yesterday to injuring with intent to injure in the attack on the night of February 20 last year, Fairfax Media reported.
Orr and Borichevsky along with a third attacker, James Phillip Brooks, allegedly bit a teenager and drunk his blood in the Wellington suburb of Mt Victoria.
The victim reportedly passed out after the attack and spent days in hospital.
The pair plead guilty after Judge Bruce Davidson indicated what their likely sentences would be.
Judge Davidson indicated Borichevsky would be discharged without conviction as long as she did 200 hours' community work, paid reparation of $400 to the victim, wrote a letter of apology to him and wrote to the court outlining the seriousness of the offence.
She was remanded for sentencing in July.
He indicated Orr would get community detention, community work and would have to pay $400 in reparation.
He was remanded for sentencing next month.
Brooks pleaded guilty last year to wounding with reckless disregard for the victim's safety.
He was sentenced to three months' community detention, 150 hours' community work, ordered to pay $400 in reparation and given 10 months' supervision.
