Valquin Descalsota Bensurto was studying English at the King's Education language school in the CTV building when the earthquake struck. The 23-year-old Filipino was a nurse.
His friend, Angel Yap, said Valquin was likely to have been near Mary Louise Anne Amantillo, who sent desperate texts to her mother in the Philippines in the aftermath of the earthquake.
The pair went to college together and Mr Yap said his friend was hardworking.
