Valeri Volnov, a Russian with New Zealand residency, was an IT systems operator at Canterbury Television, which was based in the CTV building.
The chief coroner concluded in May 2011 that Valeri, 41, died from multiple trauma injuries in the earthquake.
He was last seen talking to Matty Beaumont and Shawn Lucas, both of whom also died in the earthquake, at 12.20pm on February 22, 2011.
Valeri's wife Anna last saw him that morning as he left for work, not realising she would never see him again.
Following the earthquake, some 30 phone calls were made and texts were sent to Valeri's cellphone, however, there was no activity from the phone after the earthquake hit.
A car key, believed to belong to Valeri, was found in the rubble of the building.
