New Zealand is lagging behind the world in its child vaccination rates, and many families are waiting too long to immunise their children against preventable diseases, says a child advocacy group.
Wellchild says only 59 per cent of children are fully immunised at six months and 81 per cent at 12 months.
The target is 95 per cent.
