A vacant house has been seriously damaged in a suspicious fire in Christchurch overnight.
Fire crews were called to the property on Brentwood Road in suburban Parklands just before 1am, southern fire communications shift manager Riwai Grace said.
The home had recently been moved onto the property, he said.
It took fire crews about an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze.
Fire investigators and police would be investigating the cause of the fire today, but it was believed to be suspicious, Mr Grace said.
