An American sailor travelling around New Zealand has been reported missing after failing to contact his family in over a month.
Sean D'Epagnier, 26, arrived in New Zealand last November and has since been living on his sailboat Alexandra.
His family contacted the American Embassy because they had not heard from the 26-year-old since the end of May.
At that time, Mr D'Epagnier was in the Nelson area and had indicated he was planning to go to the Pacific Islands or head south to the Fiordland region.
Detective Sergeant Linda Simpson of the NZ Police Missing Persons Unit said they were alerted to the 26-year-old's case earlier this week.
