A man and a 14-year-old boy missing in the Urewera National Park overnight made their own way out of the region this morning.
The pair turned up safe and sound as a search and rescue team was preparing to enter the park at first light.
Police said today the alarm was raised after the two failed to turn up at a hut where they were expected last night.
They had become lost in the bush and decided to set up camp before making their own way out this morning.
Auckland police found a Swiss tourist they believed was missing. Alarm bells started ringing when the 43-year-old failed to return from a cycling trip in the Waitakere Ranges.
Police have discovered he made friends with some New Zealanders, and spent the night out drinking with them.
