A Levin tradesman has been fined $7750 after his second conviction for carrying out plumbing and gasfitting work despite not being registered or licensed under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act.
Mark Huyton admitted doing the work, which cost the homeowner $5281, in October last year.
The gas pipework did not comply with the Gas Installation Standard and led to a leak near the gas meter. It was discovered in February when an engineer tested the meter.
