Unlucky second for digger rider

A man who allegedly took a digger for a joyride in Thames on Saturday night obviously got a taste for the ride - returning a few hours later to the $100,000 vehicle.

But his initial jaunt had not gone unnoticed and he was arrested as he tried to take the digger a second time.

A police spokesman said a man would appear in the Hamilton District Court today facing several charges of burglary and unlawful taking.
