KEY POINTS:
An unlicensed driver riding a Yamaha dirt bike that police said should not have been on the road was killed when he hit a pole in the Hastings suburb of Flaxmere this morning.
Kalon Heather, 24, of Hastings, died at the scene.
Police said tonight Mr Heather was also not wearing a helmet.
Sergeant Clint Adamason said police were checking reports that two motorcylists had been riding around the west end of Flaxmere during the morning and were seeking eyewitnesses.
