An investigation into the collapse of a floor at Canterbury University Events Centre has attributed the cause to human error.
It gave way during a concert earlier this month.
The investigation's found a structural engineer whose firm was contracted to design the centre didn't calculate a dynamic load for the floor, meaning it wasn't adequate to support dancing by a large number of people.
University Vice-Chancellor Rod Carr says the structural engineer's report is being peer reviewed, and preparations are underway to have the floor repaired.
He says while only a small area of the total floor space was affected, the entire space will be strengthened, with work beginning in about a week's time.
