The complexion of the match changed 10 minutes into the second half with the injection of Chettleburgh and Richards, who added much-needed creativity.
Three minutes later, Sam Mason-Smith robbed a Havelock North player of the ball 40m out.
After a weaving run, he gave goalkeeper Jarrod Hastings no chance from close range to open the scoring.
Havelock North did have a chance to even the score after 65 minutes, when awarded a free kick just outside the box.
The ensuing kick was hit beautifully and was heading for goal, drawing an outstanding save from substitute goalkeeper Matt Borren.
With the visitors having to push forward that created more opportunities for United.
Soromon forced good saves from goalkeeper Jarrod Hastings, who had a good game until he was forced from the field with a leg injury after landing awkwardly while taking a high ball.
Soromon gave United a two-goal cushion scoring from close range from a Chettleburgh cross.
He then added his second deep into injury time neatly putting away a cross from Josh Margetts.
For United, 17-year-old Liam Hare underlined what a big future he has, with an outstanding game in midfield.
His vision and creativity caused Havelock North many a problem.
Soromon probably had his best game for some time. He used his pace well to create a number of chances.
Captain Adam Cowan and Nathan Cooksley had their usual solid games in the centre of defence.
Women's footballKeinzley Agvet Wairarapa United's unbeaten run of 25 matches came to an end with a 3-1 loss to Massey University in the National Women's Knockout Cup at Memorial Park on Sunday. United went into the match confident of causing an upset against the Central League's third-placed team.
That confidence was well-founded when former international Michelle Clarke gave United a deserved 1-0 halftime.
If the first half belonged to United, the second half was Massey's. Early goals to the impressive Jane Barnett and Siobhan Patterson gave them a 2-1 lead.
Massey then controlled possession with some neat passing, while United coughed up the ball too easily at times with some sloppy passing and too many long balls.
Massey also learned from the first half and shut down dangerwoman Clarke quickly whenever she received the ball.
Amber Phillips completed the scoring in the final minute.
United coach Phil Keinzley was happy with the performance of his team, but said the gulf between the two leagues was the difference. He said that Massey coach Richard Green had told him that it was the hardest game they had had all season.
