Wairarapa United and Western Suburbs have opened a three-point lead on their rivals in Capital Soccer's men's division one competition.
Their 2-2 draw at Howard Booth Park on Monday left them with the same record of four wins and one draw from their five matches.
But it is Wairarapa United who have the competition lead on points differential.
They have scored 15 goals and conceded three while Western Suburbs have scored 14 goals and conceded five
The division one teams were all involved in a double header over Anzac weekend and results were:-
Saturday: Lower Hutt City 1, Naenae 0; Wellington United 5, Miramar Rangers 1; Wairarapa United 4, Seatoun 0; Kapiti Coast United 3, Wainuiomata 2; Western Suburbs 3, Olympic 1.
Monday: Miramar Rangers 5, Seatoun 2; Lower Hutt City 0, Wellington United 0; Naenae 1, Kapiti Coast United 1; Wainuiomata 1, Olympic 0; Wairarapa United 2, Western Suburbs 2.
Competition points are: Wairarapa United 13, Western Suburbs 13, Wellington United 10, Kapiti Coast United 8, Miramar Rangers 6, Wainuiomata 6, Naenae 5, Lower Hutt City 5, Olympic 3, Seatoun 0.
Meanwhile Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley has been delighted with the public support given his side this season.
Despite the wintery conditions about 500 watched the clash with Western Suburbs and gave plenty of vocal encouragement to the home team.
"The support we have been getting has been terrific?.better than we ever expected," Keinzley said, adding that a number of local league players and administrators were keen to have their games changed from Saturdays so they could attend Wairarapa United games on a more regular basis.
"Practically all the clubs seem to be right behind us and that hasn't always happened before," he said.
