Wairarapa United will have a point to prove when they clash with Western Suburbs in a Capital Soccer premier division match at Howard Booth Park, Carterton tomorrow.
Remarkably, Wairarapa United have yet to beat Western Suburbs in competition play, even last year when they won the Capital division one series.
Twice then they lost to Western Suburbs, who ended up in the runners-up spot, and their only encounter so far this season ended in a draw.
For Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley tomorrow's game could be his last chance to secure a win over Western Suburbs as he is retiring from the coaching post at the end of this season, and he makes no secret of his keenness to put the record straight.
"It's one game I would really like to win??..they (Western Suburbs) have been a real problem team for us and it would be nice to get one over them." he said.
Wairarapa United will be without the Spierling brothers, Aaron (suspended) and Hayden (unavailable), but Keinzley is confident they will still field a side capable of producing the goods.
"They are a young, fit team who will look to run us around, but if we stay patient and don't get hassled then our skill levels should be enough to get us home," he said.
Keinzley was delighted with the positive attitude displayed by a depleted Wairarapa United side in their 2-2 draw with Waterside-Karori last Sunday and wants his side to adopt a similar approach tomorrow.
"We have no reason to believe they will dominate us in any area and that's the attitude we have to take into the game," he said.
