Any hopes Wairarapa United had of luring ace defender Scott Robson back for next season's central league and Chatham Cup football campaigns seem to have been dashed.
Robson has just signed a deal with the Melbourne-based Green Gully club and will be playing for them in the Victorian state league, which gets underway in February. Green Gully won the state league last year.
That deal comes after Robson trialled unsuccessfully for A-League side, the Melbourne Heart, although they did include him in one of their feeder clubs, meaning he could have the chance to trial again for them next year.
Robson went to Australia after starring for Wairarapa United in their memorable 2-1 win over Napier City Rovers in the grand final of the 2011 Chatham Cup.
In fact, so impressive was his defensive efforts in that game he was awarded the trophy for player of the match.
