Doing the simple things right will be a prime objective for Wairarapa United in their Capital Soccer premier division match with North Wellington at Alex Moore Park, Johnsonville tomorrow.
Lying third on the points table behind Petone and Tawa, but still a realistic chance for competition honours,Wairarapa United are understandably taking a "must win" attitude into this game against opposition they beat comfortably in their first round match.
And coach Phil Keinzley is adamant the path to victory will be made easier if they keep to the basics and rely on teamwork, rather than individualism to break open the North Wellington defence.
"It's all about being patient," he said. "We don't need any flashy stuff,?.it might look good, but it often produces nothing positive on the scoreboard."
Keinzley says discipline will also a vital factor in the Wairarapa United performance, as North Wellington were a side which adopted a physical approach and often relied on intimidation to cajole their opponents into submission.
"They are the sort of team which thrives if they get their noses in front, and we have to ensure that doesn't happen," he said.
Wairarapa United will be without experienced defender Robbie Bull tomorrow as he is battling both a broken toe and a hamstring strain.
His absence will see Petero Dauniseka move from the midfield to the fullback role, with James Oxtoby, Guiseppe Cagliari and Murray Burling combining in midfield.
The Wairarapa United seconds are also scheduled to play North Wellington at Alex Moore Park tomorrow, and a win would consolidate their lead on the competition table. Here too though nothing will be taken for granted as North Wellington currently lie fourth and will have the benefit of home advantage.
