Wairarapa United will be playing their Chatham Cup knockout football match against Waterside-Karori at the Pugh Sports Bowl in Masterton on Saturday.
All Wairarapa United's home games in the central league competition this season have been staged at picturesque Queen Elizabeth Park Oval but now remedial work on the playing surface at the sports bowl is complete it will become their headquarters.
Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley is wary of the threat posed his side by a Waterside-Karori side lying a close third on the Capital premier division points table.
Just last weekend Waterside-Karori thrashed Kapiti Coast United 7-0 and Keinzley anticipates them playing their usual free-flowing but physical style of game.
"They tend to adopt an in-your-face approach and we're anticipating more of the same," he said. "And with us being in a higher division they will be extra keen to claim our scalp, it's everything to gain and nothing to lose for them really."
Wairarapa United played Waterside-Karori twice on the way to winning the Capital premier division title last year with Waterside-Karori winning 2-1 in Masterton and Wairarapa United gaining revenge with a 6-1 success in Wellington.
Just who will play in goal for Wairarapa United on Saturday was still a matter of conjecture yesterday.
Regular 'keeper Sacha Nathu is on suspension after being sent off in the central league fixture with Napier City Rovers in Napier last weekend and the choice for Keinzley seems to be between Matt Steele from the club's seconds team and Aaron Spierling.
The latter came off the reserves bench to replace Nathu in Napier and the Wairarapa United centurion did a fine job in what was his first appearance for the club as 'keeper.
