Unitec says a third campus it plans to open in Takapuna next year will fill an "urgent need" for more tertiary education programmes on Auckland's North Shore.
Chief executive John Webster said a Tertiary Education Commission-funded review found a lack of access to trades, technical and vocational education in the area.
The campus is to offer courses from the first semester next year.
