A fire which gutted a residential unit in Massey this morning was started by arsonists, Waitakare police say.
Emergency services were called to a suspicious fire at unit 6/102 Lincoln Park Avenue, Massey at 5.38am.
Detective Sergeant Peter Litherland of the Waitakere CIB said the property was extensively damaged in the blaze.
He said an initial examination indicated the fire had spread from at least two starting points.
The unit's occupants were not home when emergency services arrived and no one was injured in the fire.
"Police would like to speak to anyone living in the area of Lincoln Park Avenue who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously prior to the fire or may have witnessed any vehicles leaving the scene," Mr Litherland said.
Police are also seeking information or sightings of two stolen vehicles which were found in the same area as the blaze. One was a dark grey 1993 Nissan Laurel registration XH3532 and the other white 1994 Toyota Trueno registration ZU5691.
