Twelve principals, teachers and school staff will be honoured for their contribution to the education sector by the NZEI, the early childhood and primary teachers' union.
National president Colin Tarr said yesterday that the salute would be at the opening of the union's annual meeting in Wellington on Sunday.
Retired teacher and principal Hapimana Toby Rikihana will get NZEI life membership for his devotion to promoting and teaching te reo.
