Mr Field said panel members were "extremely pleased" to field 20 applications for the posts from across the union and had been excited at the calibre of the applicants, who offered a range of skills, experience and strong passion for rugby in the region.
"It made the process a difficult one, but it was a good problem to have. What was pleasing to me was seeing the mix of demographics and professions that came through in the applications.
"It's a mix that I think we have reflected in our selections," Mr Francis said.
Fairbrother is a successful businessman and past member of the Wairarapa College 1st XV. He has grown his financial advisory service over the past few years in a very challenging climate and his drive and innovation was seen as valuable for the union to connect with supporters and the community.
Rossiter-Stead led the successful hosting of the Georgian rugby team while they were in Wairarapa during Rugby World Cup 2011. A previous player and coach of the game, her involvement has been as a member of the Greytown Rugby Club committee and an avid supporter of her daughters, who have followed in her rugby-playing footsteps.
Ammunson also was involved with Rugby World Cup 2011, as project manager of the cultural programme in partnership with Te Puni Kokiri. Ammunson brings strong governance skills to the board as a result of his numerous directorships and leadership positions. He has strong ties with both iwi in Wairarapa and with Maori rugby in the region.
Rutherford also brings strong business acumen to the board as partner of farm adviser and valuation company Baker and Associates. Rutherford has served on the board in the past, in the capacity of chairman of the Council of Clubs, and has been a driving force behind Gladstone rugby from JAB through to the seniors. He brings with him a passion and vision for rugby in the region that impressed the selection panel.
It is anticipated the new board will be in place by May 6.
