Cricketer Jeremy Coney is one of seven Victoria University graduates to be honoured for distinguished achievement in their careers.
Vice-chancellor Professor Pat Walsh said the graduates were the first to be awarded Distinguished alumni Awards, to be presented at the annual Alumni dinner on October 12.
The other recipients are David Gascoigne (NZ International Arts Festival), John Allen (chief executive of NZ Post), Chief Judge Joe Williams (Maori Land Court and Waitangi Tribunal), Dr Richard Furneaux (Industrial Research Ltd research scientist), Deirdre Tarrant (dancer, choreographer and director) and Lady Jocelyn Keith (Red Cross president and former head of nursing studies at Victoria).
