Harriers
Regional rivalry was to the fore in the cross-country race between the Bush Harriers Club and the harrier section of Athletics and Cycling Masterton.
Hosted by Bush Harriers on farmland between Eketahuna and Pahiatua it was held in what could be called traditional cross-country conditions, squally showers and wind and a well soaked course.
The main course on Sunday was 4km and included a stiff climb while the junior runners competed over an out and back 1km or 2km course, also on undulating terrain.
Bush did manage to have the first home in all of the running grades but Masterton's consistency saw the scores even until the walking grade was completed and there Masterton had the edge. They claimed the trophy for the first time since 2010 by aggregating 68 points while Bush finished on 76.
