The Wairarapa boys under-11 hockey team has performed well in two tourneys played over the past fortnight.
In what was their first appearance under the guiding hand of coach Dave Caldwell they travelled to Levin where they placed third overall after beating Wanganui B 7-1, losing to Wellington A 0-6 and beating Wellington B 5-2.
Then at Palmerston North last Sunday they beat Wanganui 2-0, drew with Hawke's Bay 2-2 after being two goals down at halftime and beat Taranaki 4-1.
They were placed first equal on points but were relegated to second on goal differential.
The major assignment for the under-11s is their national tournament which will be played at Napier from September 23 to 26.
