There has been a significant improvement in the condition of a Masterton man admitted to Wellington Hospital with a serious head injury yesterday.
The 40-year-old was found unconscious on a Masterton footpath yesterday morning. He regained consciousness overnight and has been talking to hospital staff after treatment.
Police have not yet been able to interview the man, who is described as as European and clean shaven. He was wearing a black bomber-style jacket, dark blue denim jeans and black boots.
It is unclear how he received the injuries, said Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Hansen.
Hospital staff were confident he would make a full recovery and he was likely to be discharged within days.
