The only unbeaten teams in this season's Netball Wairarapa premier one competition, Harcourts and Pioneer Blue, will do battle at the Colombo Road courts in Masterton tomorrow morning.
Harcourts will start favourites, if only because they are the defending champions and look to have lost little, or none, of the sting that took them to the title in 2011. In Katie Wyeth they have a player capable of controlling the midcourt, while Geraldine Carroll is a deadly shooter at the attacking end and Sarah Brooking equally as effective on defence.
Even allowing for the good impression made by Harcourts, however, the chances of a Pioneer Blue upset can't be discounted. They are a fit side who will look to take the game to their opposition and the acquisition of former Harcourts player Hope Phillips has clearly boosted their strength in the vital shooting department.
If the likes of Jaimie Reiri and Trisanna Campbell can feed a regular supply of quality possession to Phillips and another consistent shooter in Kelly Te Whare, a close result is in prospect.
In other premier one games, Wairarapa College A should be too strong for Hells Hot Shots, Makoura College may just have the edge on Carterton New World Lynx and there should be precious little between St Matthew's Collegiate and Baywide Gladstone.
