KEY POINTS:
EFIJY, the award-winning show car based on Holden's iconic FJ, was the star of the world's biggest one-day car show over the weekend.
The stunning lesson in radical hot rod design turned heads at the 13TH Annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, even alongside the automotive stars of blockbuster film Transformers.
The Dream Cruise draws crowds up to 1.7 million with ore than 40,000 custom cars draw crowds of up to 1.7 million people to America's spiritual home of motoring.
EFIJY was first unveiled in 2005 at the Australian International Motorshow, but this year became the North American concept car of the year.
Holden chief designer and EFIJY project head Richard Ferlazzo said driving the stunning 'ultimate FJ' at Woodward would fulfil a life-long dream.
"As a hot rod and custom car fanatic, participating in the iconic Woodward Dream Cruise is a great honour," he said.
"There is no venue in the world more suitable than Woodward to showcase EFIJY. Displaying EFIJY here alongside thousands of outrageous and unique cars, with such a receptive audience, is a great thrill.
"People get a real buzz out of seeing a car like this produced by a mainstream manufacturer such as Holden."
Powered by a 480kW supercharged six litre LS2 V8 slamming 775Nm of torque through the GM four-speed auto with push button electronic controls, EFIJY truly is a work of automotive art.
It combines highly polished aluminium, 'Soprano Purple' kandy paint, and LED light systems to great effect with 20 and 22-inch billet aluminium rims front and rear.
But at a massive 5.2 metres long, and almost every hot rodding trick in the book carried out to perfection, there's no doubting that EFIJY is an absolute head-turner.
