Tyra Banks in surprise visit to Auckland restaurant

America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks has made a surprise appearance at an Auckland restaurant.

Staff and customers at Cibo in Parnell were quite relaxed but intrigued when the star walked in for lunch at around midday.

Manager Clinton Henry says Banks did not have a booking. He says the waiter who served her and her three friends only had good things to say.

"She's a lovely person and they were having a great time. Everyone at the table was fantastic," Mr Henry said.

Mr Henry does not know what Banks ordered for lunch.

Banks, a former supermodel turned talk show host, is filming the new season of America's Next Top Model in New Zealand.
