"She's very shaken," Mitchell said.
"She rang me up not long after it happened and couldn't believe what had happened."
Mitchell said her sister did not wish to be identified. She had been the manager of the senior citizens club in Tokoroa for 13 years.
The woman had been dropping elderly residents home when she was approached by two young people.
One of them said "give us your keys", she said, to which her sister replied "what, are you joking?"
That's when he pulled out the gun, she said.
"But he said no - he had a gun in his hand, he raised it and I'm pretty sure he fired it."
The youths were arrested in Putaruru this morning.
Police inquiries are continuing.
