KEY POINTS:
Toyota's two-wheel-drive extra cab Hilux range has arrived, with a 3.0 litre turbo diesel engine.
The extra cab format offers space behind the front seats, popular with small businesses which run a mobile office from the rear.
This 2WD variant arrived after combined bargaining from TNZ and Toyota Australia.
The considerably lower tray height is well-liked among those who don't need 4WD but the extra-cab format isn't popular in Asia, hence the delayed arrival.
Expect more changes to the Hilux line-up with V6 engines soon to disappear. Toyota's general manager sales and operations, Steve Prangnell, says: "Anyone selling a V6 workhorse is finding them pretty hard to sell."
