KEY POINTS:
Police are hunting two teenagers who escaped from prison today.
Police said David John Body, 18, and Samuel Peter Badawi, 17, had escaped from the youth unit at Waikeria Prison in Te Awamutu in the early hours of this morning.
They were suspected of stealing a car, two guns, clothing and a cheque book, after they escaped.
The vehicle, a black Nissan hatchback with the licence plate DWS913, was stolen on Otorohanga Road, police said.
Some of the stolen property had since been recovered in Te Kuiti.
Police said Body and Badawi were dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who saw them should inform police.
