Two teenagers have died after a car collided with a 4WD in Southland.
Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes said the crash happened at about 5.20pm yesterday on Wyndham Rd, between Wyndham and Mataura.
He said the two dead teenagers were passengers in the car and died at the crash scene.
Mr Raynes said the man and woman, aged 19 and 15, were locals but had not yet been named.
He said the drivers from both vehicles had been taken to Southland Hospital.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the serious crash unit.
