KEY POINTS:
An old and abandoned villa in the Auckland suburb of Mount Eden has been badly damaged by fire for the second time in two weeks
The two-storey property was well alight when eight fire crews arrived on the scene at 2.40am today, Fire service shift manager Jaron Phillips said.
Two fire crews and a fire safety officer were still at the scene late this morning.
Firefighters were called to deal with a fire in the same house in the early hours of January 17.
A fire spokesman said that investigations were continuing into the cause of the two fires which were being treated as suspicious.
