A man is recovering after escaping from a moving car in a gunpoint kidnapping near Timaru.
The man was held up and his car stolen on Kellands Hill Rd two days ago.
Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Quested told Fairfax the man was approached by two men on the side of the road. One was armed with a firearm. Quested said the two men had gang connections.
He said victim dived out of the car to escape and suffered cuts and grazes. He was now recovering at home.
