Two people have been critically injured after suspected illegal car racing in south Auckland.
A car crashed into a tree and rolled on Arnwood St, Manurewa around 11.30pm.
Two people were trapped and had to be cut free.
They were taken to Middlemore Hospital with critical injuries.
The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating but a police spokeswoman said initial inquiries indicate a second vehicle may have been racing the car at the time of the crash.
