Did you witness the stabbing or do you know anything about the incident? Let us know.
Two men were last night undergoing surgery for multiple wounds to the chest and back after a stabbing at the Unitec polytechnic during a popular orientation festival.
The stabbing happened in a carpark at the southern end of the Mt Albert campus during the Sounds in the Sun concert, although most of the 10,000 people who attended were unaware of what had happened.
It was not known last night if the injured men were students or concertgoers but police were still hunting for the person who inflicted the injuries.
Although officers are still interviewing witnesses, it appears the stabbing was possibly sparked by a fight with a woman.
Auckland City police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said it appeared to have started when the men, aged in their 20s, got into a dispute with a woman which then led to a chase to another part of the campus just before 2.30pm.
They apparently met up with associates of the woman and the two men were stabbed.
It is not clear how many people were involved but at least two cars were seen speeding away immediately after the stabbing.
Eyewitness Brad McClean told 3 News he saw the two injured men lying on the ground.
It looked as if one had been stabbed in the back, and a woman was holding him on the ground.
The other man was lying down with his hands over his head.
Two ambulances were sent to the campus and police cordoned off the area but were quick to assure students and concert-goers that there was no threat to their safety.
A St John spokesman said one man in his 20s suffered critical injuries to his chest and another person received serious back injuries.
Both victims were last night undergoing surgery but Ms Hegarty said they were not believed to be in a critical condition.
Police were interviewing several witnesses but Ms Hegarty said some were being more co-operative than others.
No weapon had been recovered.
While some concert-goers witnessed the aftermath of the stabbing, most spoken to last night were unaware of the incident.
Unitec spokesman Darren Horsman said that was because the concert took place on the campus fields, which are a 15-20 minute walk from the carpark where the stabbing took place.
Mr Horsman did not know whether any of the people involved were students.
The carpark reopened last night after police dusted a number of cars for fingerprints and searched through the contents of one car's boot.
